THEWHOLETRUTH 63
The lackofrain inRwanda
had reached epidemicproportions,withnew reports
stating that Rwandawas experiencing theirworse
drought in over 60 years. Unfortunately, our
COGIC brothers and sisters in that region had also
been heavily impacted by the drought. With little-
to-nowater for drinking, watering live-
stock, fields or gardens, the losswas
great.All too familiarwith hardships,
having to overcome the throws of
civil war and genocide in the 1990’s,
the people prayed and criedout toGod
for aMIRACLE.
There are55COGIC churches in theRwanda
Jurisdiction but the churches inMurambi, located
in theKayonzaDistrict of EasternRwanda, were
themost impacted by the drought. Complicating
matters further, there are no nearby lakes or rivers
in thispart of thecountry fromwhich todrawwater.
Bishop JeffreyMelvin, Prelateof theRwanda
Jurisdiction (UnitedStates resident) received the
news of thedrought affectinghis people inOctober
2016.AdministrativeAssistantKabasha Innocent,
who lives in the capital city ofKigali, traveled
toMurambi to visit the churches there and called
BishopMelvin to reportwhat he had seen and
heard. “The people are suffering greatly,” he said.
“Our peopleare starving, pleasehelpus.”
