TWT:What is your role or assignment asAIMVice
Chairman,Ministries andSpecial Initiatives?
KALEMANN:My assignment is to implement
programs and platforms thatwill givemembers of
COGICwho desire to offer up their skills and exper-
tise an opportunity towork and help further the cause
of our great church.Also, I am to ensure the proper
recognition of outstanding individuals that represent
COGIC in their various areas of profession.
TWT:During nationalmeetings/convocations, lead-
ership schedules can be extremely busy; however,
AIMChairman, Supt. LinwoodDillard took the time
to attend themeeting and address the 2017Class of
20Under 40AchieverAward recipientswhowere
present. This speaks to his commitment and sup-
port. Since serving as vice chairman, what have you
learned fromChairmanDillard that has influenced
you personally or in yourministry assignment?
KALEMANN: ChairmanDillard has taughtme the
importance of usingopportunities granted to you to
build opportunities for others to serve. One of his
main goals is to ensure that everyone feels that there
is a place for them inCOGIC. ChairmanDillard is a
walking example of the scripturewherewe are en-
couraged to prefer our brother over ourselves.
TWT: TheMinistries&Special Initiatives, under
your leadership, initiated something new—20Under
40AchieversAward. Please give us a brief history of
this new platformopportunity.Where did this idea
originate?
KALEMANN: The idea originatedwithChairman
Dillard’s desire to shed a better light on themillen-
nial generation, who have been the subject of a ton of
negative press.
TWT:Who came upwith the name 20Under 40 and
why?
KALEMANN: I, alongwithmy team, came upwith
the name to target 10men and 10women from the
millennial generation.
TWT:What is the goal/purpose of 20Under 40
Achievers?
KALEMANN: The purpose is to appreciate and
recognize some ofCOGIC’s best and brightest young
adultswho aremaking lasting impacts in their vari-
ous fields of profession. The goal is to show today’s
society that there are some phenomenalmillennials
doing great things, not just in the church, but across
theworld. Millennials are not ashamed to share the
lessons they learned growing up in church, and that
the source of their success is throughChrist Jesus.
TWT:Usually, when something new is introduced,
an approval process is required. From the time of
conception to reality, how long did it take to imple-
ment?
KALEMANN: Because of hardwork and dedication
from a great teamwewere able to get this initiative
up and running in 3months.
TWT:Whenever awards are given there is always a
process and procedures to follow to ensure recipients
areworthy and/or eligible to receive the award.What
is the criteria for eligibility?
KALEMANN:Anyone between the ages of 25-40
who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in
their field of profession and study, andwho is a faith-
fulmember of their church, is eligible. Names are
submitted andfiltered to ensure theymeet the cri-
teria. Those names are then sent to a judging panel
consisting of leaders from acrossCOGIC.A rubric is
used to discover the 20finalists.
TWT:Who can nominate candidates for this award?
KALEMANN:Anyone can nominate a candidate,
but itmust be accompanied by a letter of recommen-
dation from the candidate’s pastor.
