In 1945, Church Of God In Christ
(COGIC) founder, Bishop Charles
Harrison Mason,
dedicatedMasonTemple inMemphis,
Tennessee as the International Headquarters of theChurchOf God
InChrist and the church’s nationalmeeting site.However,asmembership
grew exponentially, larger edifices were sought to accommodate
the saints.At the time of BishopMason’s death in 1961,membership
exceeded 400,000.Today, theChurchOf God InChrist membership
is estimated at 6.5million,with churches in every state in theUnited
States and in over 85 countries around theworld.BishopMasonwas
the first senior Bishop of theChurchOf God InChrist. Currently,
BishopCharles E.Blake, Sr. is the seventh Presiding Bishop andChief
Apostle of theChurchOf God InChrist.
The purpose of many of theChurchOf God InChrist conventions
and conferences is to empower delegates with effectiveministerial
tools to glorifyGod, evangelize theworld and edify the body of
