shot by James Earl
Ray outside of the
LorraineMotel in
Memphis, Tennessee.
As the famed civil
rights leader lay
dying on the balcony,
surrounded by Jesse
Jackson and Ralph
Abernathy, thewords
King spoke just 24
hours earlier rang
prophetic:
“I may not get
therewith you. But I
want you toknow
tonight, thatwe, as a
people, will get to the
Promised Land.”
