ThePresidingBishop has ex-
pressed his desire that the church
impact the areas inwhichwe
serve. To this end, several com-
munity-minded eventswere
planned for theweek.
JobFair
–More than 40 employ-
ers and 500+ job seekers attended
theCOGIC JobFair. Some
employerswere hiring on the spot
and several of the local residents
were able to get jobs the same
day!Many of the employers have
a national presence, soCOGIC
memberswere able tomake con-
nections inSt. Louis for their own
hometowns.
HealthFair
–Approximately 30
health providerswere on hand to
distribute information to improve
the health of the saints. There
was an emphasis onblood pres-
sure, diabetes, breast cancer for
women, prostate cancer formen
and having a healthy diet. Free
consultations andmaterialswere
distributed to the saints aswell.
CommunityCleanUp
–COGIC
members from all over theworld
went out to clean up a neighbor-
hood in the 4thWard of St. Louis.
Itwas truly a great opportunity
for the church to joinwithmem-
bers of the community to provide
some glimmer of hope. This is
thefifth year that the saints have
gone out to impact a neighbor-
hood in thisway. It is hoped that
this eventwill only get bigger in
the years to come andwill assist
in carrying out thePresiding
Bishop’s desire for COGIC to im-
pact the areas inwhich it serves.
